The Maths Programs
Each student will begin at a comfortable level for them. Their individual starting point, along with their expected projection rate, is established at a free assessment. Once a firm foundation and good study skills have been developed, students move on to unfamiliar, more challenging work as they grow their independent learning skills.
Through daily study of this worksheet-based programme, students develop an affinity for mental maths and the confidence to apply a range of skills when faced with a new challenge. Each level of the maths programme builds incrementally on the skills developed in the previous level, ensuring a solid understanding and the ability to put learning into practice.
At London North Academy we place great importance on children understanding how a calculation works and therefore their ability to select the most efficient approach to solve a problem. This is achieved through individualised instruction and the use of traditional methods, enabling students to develop their mental agility and maximise their ability.
The English Program
The London North Academy English Programme aims to develop each student’s ability to read and understand a variety of texts, and to nurture a life-long habit of reading for education and enjoyment.
Each student starts at their own, individually set, starting point which will be established during their free assessment. They will begin at a comfortable level, allowing us to focus on developing a strong foundation in the way they study, paying attention to pace, concentration and rhythm.
London North Academy worksheets are designed with examples and instructions to support students in becoming independent learners.
The English programme progresses from basic word and sentence building and culminates in critiquing advanced texts. Through daily study of this programme, students develop a wide range of reading comprehension skills, ultimately enabling them to interpret information in advanced literature and become proficient readers. They build upon strongly formed foundations to develop reasoning, interpretation, deduction and persuasion abilities.
Our Recommended Reading List complements the programme, encouraging students to explore books from various genres and styles.
Additionally, we offer worksheets with colourful pictures to help early learners develop pencil control skills.
